Dr Richard Ferber, author of Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems, is revising his 1985 book with a new edition to be released in 2007. According to reports, Ferber states that leaving babies to cry was never meant to solve all sleep problems.
It makes me think that if this supposed misinterpretation of the Ferber method hadn't occurred in the first place, perhaps we wouldn't have this litany of Controlled Crying methods and all their modifications and variations. Will the infant sleep schools, most of which operate using a version of the Ferber method, change the way they approach infant sleep problems? And how will other "sleep experts" respond to this?
