The friends have names!

Elijah is "friends" with his stuffed toys. He likes putting them on chairs, making them balance in unusual places and making them kiss us.

Now he's very excited because not only does he know and understand that each toy has a name, he is starting to say their names as well! Yesterday, Elijah figured out how to say both Eeyore and Hippo. He spent the afternoon carrying both of them around, introducing them to different things in the house.

"Ee-or!" he proclaimed, holding Eeyore aloft. He brought Eeyore back to his chest and held up his other hand, which had Hippo by the tail: "Hip-oo!"

I tried to get him to say Homer, but it ended up more like "Hee-or".
All in good time.

Already Elijah has more words then most of my pre-K kids. And just yesterday we came to realize that while one young man answers to his name, he has no clue how to respond to the question, "What is your name?"

I think I can safely speak for both of us when I say that his potential both excites and scares us.

I have no idea how we are going to keep him appropriately challenged as he gets older. Still, there are worse problems to have.
