Picky eater

Elijah never used to be a picky eater. He would eat pretty much anything put in front of him. Now he's deciding that he's not interested in a lot of his meal options any more. Even if we think we have him figured out, he'll suddenly go off something he used to love. Beans are the latest thing on the refusal list. Mashed cheesy potato is just about the only guaranteed meal to be downed without a whinge.

Apparently Daddy used to eat mashed potato and not much else as a child. Perhaps this is another case of "like father, like son".

Mashed potato, pumpkin and whatever else Mum thought she could get away with sneaking in.

I think I was about 4 or 5 before I ate proper meals with the rest of the family. Still, I don't think you can blame me for this one. I never got to have cheese in my mashed potato until I started cooking it for you...

It is a phase. I have a friend who says his daughter flat refused to eat anything but pb&j for close to a year -- and would go on a hunger strike if the sandwiches were denied.
