It's a jungle out there
Yesterday I saw I had a missed call from Elijah's kindy. I instantly went into panic mode as the only reason for them to call me is because of an incident, accident or sudden illness. Even though I was teaching, I called them back straight away.
"There's been an incident with Elijah."
Six words I hate to hear. This could only be bad.
"He and a younger child were apparently fighting over some Lego and Elijah was scratched in the eye."
In the eye? Can he see? Has he been taken to hospital?
"We applied some cream and an icepack but it looks really bad."
Ok, so no hospital. "How is he now?"
So it can't be too bad.
I realised when I collected him that afternoon that it wasn't his eyeball that was scratched, but it was close. He was in good spirits and was more interested in telling me about the spiderman cake they had for another child's birthday than the scratching incident.
At any rate, the other child was dealt with and Elijah will be fine, just marked for about a week. Lucky he has no impending castings.
