Letter writing

Elijah and I went to see a gorgeous play called Boats at Darlinghurst Theatre Company. After the show, I asked Elijah if he would like to write a letter to the cast thanking them for the show. I found the email for the Artistic Director of Terrapin Puppet Theatre, who had produced the show and toured it to Sydney.

The following is what Elijah wrote with very little help from me:

My name is Elijah and i am five years old. I have seen a show called Boats and that was today in the city. I liked the storm efects and the bird. The show made me thrilled. I also liked the bread boat wich got blown in half. Thank you for bringing the show to sydney so that i could watch it.

Today, we got a reply from the Artistic Director:

Dear Elijah,

Thank you for your letter. It was an absolute joy to read. Receiving letters like that makes it all worth while, you made my day. To know that kids are enjoying the show means everything to us. That is why we do it. So thank you for letting us know. It means a lot and makes us feel like we are doing a good thing.

Take care and keep going to see theatre, and maybe making some yourself.

It totally made Elijah's day. And if that isn't enough motivation for him to write more, then I don't know what is!
